“From the Field” is a section of APCToday.com that features original articles written by advanced practice clinicians.
If you are a licensed NP, PA, or certified nurse-midwife practicing in the United States and would like to submit an article for publication in the “From the Field” section of APCToday.com, begin by sending an Email query to the editor, Wendy Wright, ARNP, at apctoday@qhc.com. Briefly state your topic, your experience in this area, what your manuscript will cover, and why you feel it is important for the readers of APCToday.
Before sending your Email query, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the style of APCToday and the variety of topics that are covered in this online publication. In general, you will see that the majority of the articles address issues from primary care, women’s health, mental health, and surgical care.
You will receive an e-mail in reply either asking for more information or declining your offer to submit this particular article.
Please note APCToday.com accepts online article submissions only. Articles submitted without prior approval will not be accepted.
You may not submit an article though APCToday.com for any of the other Dowden journals that appear on this site.
Also note that there is no monetary compensation for articles accepted for “From the Field” on APCToday.com.
If your idea is accepted, you may write your article to the specified length and deliver it within the time frame allotted by the editor. In general, articles should not exceed 2000-3000 words in total. Articles may be written by a single author or multiple co-authors. Accepted articles will be posted on the site for a period of one year.
You will receive an author’s agreement from Dowden Health Media pertaining to the rights for the article. You must sign and return it by US Post before the article can be published on APCToday.com.
APCToday is a forum for articles that reflect the experiences of NPs, PAs, and nurse- midwives. Challenging case studies, clinical reviews, best practices, issues in practice management, and topics that impact you as an advanced practice clinician in the performance of your profession are especially desirable. Research articles are also encouraged.
Following your query and our solicitation to submit, your article will undergo peer review by the Editorial Board of APCToday prior to final acceptance.
The editors of APCToday will work with you to shape your article and will provide you with the opportunity to review it prior to online publication. However, the editors will make the final decision regarding the content that appears on this site.
Please keep in mind that your article should be written in a style that communicates clearly and pays attention to correct English usage, displays a high degree of medical knowledge, and offers practice-based information whenever possible.
The inclusion of references, tables, and figures is encouraged as applicable, following standard AMA style.
